Our philosophy is always to treat every patient as though they were a member of our own family. During our consultations we provide you with a full assessment of your condition and discuss in detail the options available and the recommended management. We will always advise you on the best treatment even if it were a less expensive option than that you had booked for. Many of our patients tell us that they have never experienced the level of detail and information we provide them in our consultations, as shown in our google reviews, and we feel strongly that this distinguishes us from others in the field.
Our criteria for surgery:
- No children < 18 years of age (however, cryotherapy may be possible).
- No malignant lesions.
- No holiday after your operation for 2 weeks.
Consultation–
All patients will have an in-depth consultation with Mr Masha Singh prior to any procedure being undertaken, he is a fully qualified Plastic Surgeon working in the NHS. He will spend time during the consultation to explain the diagnosis to you and how best to treat the problem. He will address, in detail, how the operation would be performed, what to expect afterwards and what to do in the recovery period. Patients are often anxious when it comes to the scarring that can be expected after surgery, Mr Singh will discuss this in detail based on the type of surgery, the location on your body and the type of stitches used.
Following your consultation, we aim to provide treatment on the same day, but in some rare circumstances, such as if a scan is needed before surgery, this may not be possible and you may be asked to attend on another occasion.
Price–
You will be given a written quotation for the total costs of the procedure before undertaking any treatment and patients are always able to take time to think about how best they would like to proceed. Many other places have prices that state “from…” or “starting at…” we have all our prices clearly laid out so that you know how much a procedure will cost prior to attending, with no hidden charges or fees. For further information, please see our prices under each section.
Histology–
When a lesion is being excised, we do strongly recommend sending the lesion for histopathological testing to confirm the diagnosis and ensure it is nothing untoward. This does incur a fee of £80 per lesion. If you choose not to have the lesion sent away for testing, you will accept full responsibility of not knowing whether the lesion may have been something that required further treatment following excision. This is very rare, however, and should there be any concerns at the time of excision, this will be discussed with you. If your surgeon is concerned that the lesion may potentially be cancerous, he may refuse to do the surgery unless you allow him to send it off for histopathological analysis.
Pre-operative Preparation–
It can often be very helpful to research the lesion you have before attending. The internet can be a great source of information, but often you will see sites claiming to give you unrealistic results and these expectations can lead to dissatisfaction with the final results you may achieve. We aim to give clear and realistic expectations to all of our patients.
All of our procedures here are performed under a local anaesthetic. This means you may eat and drink as usual.
Post-Operative Care–
Following your procedure, you will almost certainly have dressings on your wound. For most procedures, you may require dressings for 1-3 weeks. The exact length will depend on your specific procedure. If you have any sutures that need removing, we can arrange this with our practice nurse or you may be seen by your own practice nurse at your NHS GP Surgery. We will advise you with regards to how best to manage the dressings and whether you may be able to wash the area after the surgery. In almost all cases, the dressings are discreet and allow you to shower the area after surgery.
If you have any concerns about your wound following your surgery, we would ask that you contact us for advice and we will endeavour to support you through any concerns that you may have. If we need to see you again for any post operative issues, these follow up appointments with Mr Singh are complimentary.
